More love...

I went to the post office today and in my little box I found two beautiful envelopes that had my name in them. Me being the person of instant gratification opened both right there in the middle of the post office. They were both thank you notes from two recent brides. The first was a post card from Fiji from Michele and Vince who you read about just a few posts ago. The second was from Erin & Justin who's wedding was May 17th.

I thought I'd share Erin's note with all of you because it was so sweet.

Dear Kasey-

...A huge thank you again for helping pull off the wedding of my dreams and for making the whole day worry free! You are amazing at what you do. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Clue No. 1

A key. The key is a symbol of many things - success, happiness, opportunity... This is a picture of a single key but there are two others out there just like it.

I've got some big news to share but I'm not ready to reveal everything yet. I'll share bits and pieces over the next several weeks with a big announcement the end of July! Stay tuned as I reveal a piece each week!

Feeling the Love

I love my job!




It's really one of the coolest jobs ever... I have the honor and privilege to help guide my clients through one of the most important and special days of their lives! How many people can say they get to do that?!



I just received a note from Michele & Vince - the same Michele & Vince from June 7, 2008 in Cleveland, OH. I read the note they sent me and really it makes me so happy I could just cry. (For those of you who really know me, know this is completely normal behavior as the over emotional girl I am)! I thought I'd share a few of the very sweet things they had to say:

Vince and I just got back from our honeymoon yesterday. We had a wonderful time in Fiji. I would have loved to send this email sooner but I did not have Internet access.

Words cannot even begin to express the gratitude I feel towards the work you did. You made my wedding the best moment in my life!!! You did an excellent job in making sure that everything was followed through perfectly. I am still telling everyone I know that without you the wedding could have never been what it was....Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!

Hip Grip

I had to share this fun little find with you that I found on Tulla Belles.com!

Instead of asking for a sleeve for your coffee every time you get a yummy latte or hot chocolate (for you non coffee drinkers) you just slip this nifty little piece of fabric on your cup. It's called a Hip Grip. It's also great for your iced drinks too so you hand doesn't freeze while you're drinking your iced latte or frapuccino. Not feeling like the bright fun pattern on the one side, simply turn it over and you've got a whole new look! There's even a pocket for your Starbuck's gift card.

In addition to looking so fabulous with you cup of coffee you're doing something good for the environment by not using those paper/styrafoam sleeves.

Sentimental...

I thought this was a very cute and unique idea that I've seen more and more lately.

We are either placing or lighting a candle in memory of family members or close friends who have passed away and are not in attendance at the wedding. Usually we'll have a small flower arrangement on the altar, a flower placed on an empty seat or a candle lit during the candle lighting ceremony with the mothers. I'm so in love with these small lockets that you can place a small picture of a loved one(s) tied to the bridal bouquet. I've had several brides in the past week also carry their grandmothers favorite broach or other family heirloom on their bouquet and it looked really gorgeous! Here's one example. Doesn't it look so nice?

I Scream, You Scream...

...for ice cream that is!

A few weeks ago instead of cake we did an ice cream cart from Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. It was a huge hit and no one even missed the cake. The following week we did an ice cream sundae bar in addition to cake. I'd say wedding cake and ice cream went perfectly together. I only wish I would have found these cute little spoons in time for the weddings. They are the cutest little things that you can personalize. They are from paper + cup. They remind me of eating little ice cream cups as a kid...remember those?!

I think having ice cream with cake or in lieu of cake is a trend that's here to stay for a while. It's so much fun, how could it not?!

SNEAK PEEK: Aftyn & Steve

Aftyn called me one day looking for a Day of Coordinator. She hired me without even meeting me because she was worried about her wedding day going smoothly and she was doing all of her planning from Texas. The first time I met Aftyn I knew her wedding was going to be great. I had so much fun working with her and Steve. They knew what they wanted and we're good at making decisions. Black, White and Blue were their colors and I think we pulled it together nicely. One of my favorite moments of the day is showing the couple their reception space. Aftyn was almost in tears when she saw it and this makes me beam! For those of you who know me - if you cry, I cry and it's all good! : )

We had a ice sculpture of an airplane at the reception. Steve was a pilot in the Air Force, so Aftyn added this just for him. It was a huge hit! A big thank you to Greg from Elegant Ice for creating this little masterpiece

I had a great day working with some great vendors that I had not had the opportunity to work with before. Monika and her team at the Hyatt on Capital Square were great and very accommodating. Bess from Bess' Cakery did an awesome job on the cake. We had 4 flavors and almost all of it was gone at the end of the night. Kevin from KC Photography was great to work with. I can't wait to see the pictures he took and share them with all of you! For now here are a couple of pictures I snapped at the reception.

SNEAK PEEK: Sarah & David

Sarah and David are a sweet couple that wanted a simple but pretty afternoon wedding for their families and close friends. We had a beautiful location picked out at the Jefferson Country Club with a nice afternoon cocktail party planned. Mother nature had other plans in store for us though. The morning of the wedding the skies were blue and the temperature was just right but the wind was insane! We were concerned that no one would be able to hear the ceremony because of the wind and that it might be too chilly for the little ones attending the wedding. Sarah is a nanny so we had LOTS of little ones attending the wedding.


Their ceremony was very special with David playing a song just for Sarah on his violin. It was so sweet and beautiful. He's so talented! A big thank you to Laura and her staff at Jefferson Country Club. As well as Amanda from Bakery Gingham. The cake was so yummy...the guests ate every last piece! I also had the privilege of working with a great team of photographers from Keels Photography. Chris and his wife Trisha were so fun to watch work with their very relaxed approach to photographing the day's events. I can't wait to share their pictures with you.

SNEAK PEEK: Michele & Vince

I received a call last year from a woman named Clydie. She was looking for a planner to help with her niece's wedding - June 6, 2008 in Cleveland, OH. I gladly accepted and finally met Michele and Vince in March for our first and last planning meeting before the big day. Michele and Vince live in Houston, TX and were only making that one trip to OH before the wedding. Thankfully Michele and Vince are very organized and working with them was a great experience.


Fast forward to June 6. I finally get to meet Clydie and thank her in person for hiring me and allowing me the privilege to be a part of this great day. I really like Clydie because she's so sweet and kind but no nonsense either. What a great combination!


The day was gorgeous - even if it was tad bit warm outside. Michele and Vince are a very relaxed couple and you could feel that vibe all day long. The guests arrived to a beautifully decorated church with peach roses, white hydrangea topiaries lining the aisle. The girls were dressed in mocha colored floor length dresses and the guys were in classic black tuxes. We started right on time and the guests were treated to a surprise solo by Vince at the beginning of the ceremony. I had no idea he could sing!


As the guests arrived at Villa Di Borally for the reception the room was lit by soft peachy pink light with a giant M and V gobo on the dance floor. The guest tables had either candles in large vases surrounded by rose petals or the large topiaries similar to the church. They noshed on delish antipasti and homemade pizza and sipped champagne during cocktail hour. I have to tell you that when I found out that the reception was at Borallys I was so excited. I have been going there for years with my family for weddings and special events.


Michele and Vince still had a few surprises in store for their guests. We had video messages Incorporated into the various activities of the evening. Michele and Vince's entrance was one of the most unique I have ever seen. We were also treated to a tap dance performance by the bride and groom. The crowd LOVED it! Vince also surprised Michele with a song he had written just for her. It was so sweet.


I had the pleasure of working along side two very talented photographers - Brian Choi and Nathan Migal. Nathan is an up and coming photographer in the Cleveland area and I'm sure we'll see more of him soon. I also had the pleasure of working along side James and Jason Dawkins - Vince's brothers (and they are twins!). They own Triple D productions - a video production company based out of Houston TX. They did an amazing job being in all the right places at the right time and putting together the video footage that was used during the reception. I wish they weren't so far away because I'd recommend them to all of my clients! I've got a few pictures that I snapped at the church and at the reception - I'll share the pro pics and video when I get them!


I also wanted to say thank you to Heather from Heatherlily Floral Design. She and her staff - Tammy in particular were so great to work with. The flowers were beautiful!

The Fiorino's - Happy Anniversary

I can't believe one year has gone by that fast. It seems just like yesterday that we were at the Columbus Zoo for Jen & Mike's wedding. I really enjoyed my time with Jen and Mike and I'm so happy we have stayed in touch over the past year! I'm a bit jealous because they now live in beautiful North Carolina on the beach. Here are a few pictures as we reminisce and wish them a Happy 1st Anniversary and many more years of love and happiness!

Mike's Dad made the ceremony arch just for them. It thought it was beautiful and such a nice personal touch.

Their cake was the talk of the reception. Not only did it look great but it tasted amazing.

Jen's bouquet turned out so pretty. I'll have to be honest, I was a little worried about using all tropical flowers but it worked and looked gorgeous!

Yes, that is a chicken Jen is holding. We had a meet and greet with some of the animals. This chicken was Jen's favorite. I wish I could remember her (the chicken) name. This actually was Jen's job at the zoo. She used to one of the animal handlers who would bring the animals out for the zoo guests to meet.
