Make it Yours: Narciso Rodriguez for Her
Today it is my favorite scent! Narciso Rodriguez. This one is so yummy smelling. It is perfect for every occasion. It can be dressed up or down. I love it so much that I am out. And it sits just a little out of reach on the budget. So I am holding out hope that someone special is reading this an may or may not purchase it for Christmas! Now it's your turn to make it yours. Go forth and smell it!

Make it Yours: Elle Decor and Inc. Magizines
Magazines! Not something I have an over abundance of time for, but when I get the chance to actually sit down and read one between walking the dogs and bedtime for Ash and G my go to magazines are Elle Decor and Inc. I laugh sometimes when they are sitting next to each other. Elle decor has some of the beautiful homes with some of the most fabulous style! They have such interesting spaces that are so well put together that we use it as inspiration when designing spaces for clients. I think that it is important to look for wedding trends outside of the wedding magazines. Contrast that with Inc. that is all about business with article titles like "Lessons from the World's Most Ruthless Competitor". I mean a girls got to know her stuff! I have some big plans for Columbus's event scene, that why I use the hashtag #emipirebuliding!

Bridesmaid Gifts: Fun Necklaces Finds on Etsy
This little way to say thank you can be anything from shoes to monogramed running shorts and back again! But my favorite gift that seems to be trending out there in wedding world and that is the necklace! It is functional and fun! Your girls can wear it during the wedding and for many years to come! Also I love them because they can be inexpensive and are always super cute!! It all depends on what kind you want to get, but they can fit any budget. I also have an unhealthily obsession with etsy.com which is where my inspiration pictures came from today. All of these necklaces are super cute and would make the perfect gift for your bridesmaids (or even yourself!). Etsy has so many more options to fit any style of wedding, literally so perfect!!! Just type in whatever you like in to the search bar and see what comes up! Happy hunting!!

A is for Apple
I love chocolate covered apples! ...well chocolate covered anything for that matter. It's tradition that we get a chocolate covered apple for Christmas. I think it's safe to say it's a staple at our dinner table around the holidays. So this past week, you could image my excitement when I received an email from Shane at Aly's Apples in Texas. It got me thinking about the many dessert displays we helped create this year and how fun it would have been to include something like these yummy treats. The mini chocolate covered apples are perfect! I also thought the bride & groom apples are adorable. What a fun cute idea for the dessert table or something to serve at the farewell brunch on Sunday!
Cost ranges from $6.95 - $44.95 depending on the apple selected. In addition to apples, there are chocolate covered strawberries, pretzels, Oreos, and rice krispie treats.

Happy Shopping!

Making Your Wedding Day: The Boutonniere
Three weeks ago we shared with you a unique way for brides to make the boutique more personalized, but what about the man standing at the end of the aisle? He too can skip the flowers and sport something a little more "him" on the big day. The groom's lapel and personality will stand out when wearing any one of these creative boutonniere designs. The pairing of leaves and feathers by designer Easter Yu gives the boutonniere a more masculine feel,

Last Minute Tips for Success
Friday, January 29, 2010 - 8:00am to 9:30pm – Filene’s Basement, Columbus, OH
Thursday night
· Drink lots of water
· Get a good night’s sleep
Friday morning, before you leave the house
· Food is fuel--have a good breakfast
· Dress in a sports bra and bike shorts, leotard or bathing suit
· Leave your handbag behind; you want as little as possible to keep track of
· Don’t wear make-up—it might rub off on the dresses
· No jewelry; last year a bride-to-be lost her engagement ring when it got caught on a lacy dress.
Best time to arrive at the store Friday morning
If you want to be part of the ‘rush to the racks’ then you should be at the store by 6:30am
Otherwise, arrive later (anytime after 11:00am) when things have calmed down and you can peruse the racks at your own pace
At the sale
Be considerate and play fair; please, please, please don’t horde dresses; grab what you can, go through the dresses quickly and give up what you don’t want so other brides can get started;
Filene’s Basement reserves the right to limit the number of gowns you can hold at one time.
Be open-minded --try on whatever comes your way; if you focus to much on a specific style or label, you might just miss the dress of your dreams
Remember, gowns usually run small; don’t even look at size tags. Just eyeball the dress and if it’s close to your size, try it on. There will be experts on alterations and cleaning there to advise you
Take a break if you get tired and cranky; grab some water
Take pictures and have fun! These memories will last a lifetime.
Cash, checks with ID, major credit cards are accepted. One day sale; gowns are not returnable. Visit www.filenesbasement.com/bridal.php for more information, including directions to the store.
NOTE: This event will likely be photographed and taped by local news outlets and by other photographers for possible broadcast or publication. By your entrance into and presence at the sale, you give unqualified consent to record, use and publicize your voice, actions, likeness and appearance in any manner in connection with news coverage and/or publicity. If you do not wish to be photographed or videotaped, please hold your hand up and inform the camera operator of your wishes. All photographers are required to have press credentials or Filene’s Basement authorization tags visible to customers. If you have any questions, please locate a Filene’s Basement manager.

Coolest Dinnerware Ever
This has to be the coolest disposable dinnerware I've ever seen. VerTerra is made entirely of fallen leaves, water and heat. When I saw this product for the first time a few months ago, I thought to myself - I wonder how soon and where can I use this?
There are various sizes in plates, bowls and trays available. Everything is completely biodegradable and microwave safe (can you believe that?). Best of all it's so affordable and adorable! The website even has a calculator to help you plan how much of each size you'll need for your next party.
Happy shopping!

Alternative Wedding Rings
It's true that diamonds are a girl's best friend, but not every girl sees herself as a princess cut. So what's a bride to do when she wants a beautiful but offbeat engagement ring or band? There are tons of alternative wedding rings available that are just as gorgeous as traditional rings. The Cognac Diamond Ring by L Frank is absolutely stunning with twists of gold and pear-shaped cognac diamonds:

Alternative rings aren't just for the bride. Honor your offbeat bridal party with the Amity Ring by Turtle Love Committee. Studded with amethyst, blue topaz, peridot, citrine and two garnets, it's a wonderful way to show your bridesmaids that you appreciate their unique personalities.

Adorn Brides
I originally posted about Adorn Brides back in October but thought I'd re-post it with an exciting addition. As of today clients, family & friends of Bliss Weddings & Event can receive 20% off any rental with Adorn Brides. You'll need to use this code: CVULS1JJ when checking out to receive the discount.
Happy Shopping!
I am so excited to share this post with you today! I just LOVE my diamonds and was so happy when I found this lovely little company called Adorn Brides. They rent diamond jewelery for wedding day or special occasion. All of the jewelery is real and very affordable to rent for the day. For example a stunning pair of diamond earrings is only $110 to rent. The matching necklace is $380. I only wish Adorn Brides was around when I got married. I tried to do this and no one would even consider something like this.

TOMS Shoes

TOMS shoes are an American shoe company started by Blake Mycoskie, a former contestant on The Amazing Race. For every pair sold, they donate a pair of shoes to people in impoverished villages. Since May of 2006, TOMS has given over 60,000 pairs of shoes to children in Argentina and South Africa.

Not only are these shoes part of a worthy cause, but they are also cute and super stylish. They are made of natural materials and slide on for a relaxed and comfortable fit. They would make a great pair of traveling shoes or slippers for unfamiliar planes and hotel rooms. They fold up fairly small as well, making them good to tuck in the luggage for a honeymoon. Check them out at www.tomsshoes.com
