MIA..

I know I've been MIA on the blog for a few days and it's because we're gearing up for the weddings coming up in May. Kathy and Cavett start the official "season" at the Westin this weekend and I'm so excited! I can't wait for the weekend to get here.

So don't worry I'm still here thinking about you all and please check back every few days to see the great event pictures of my fabulous brides and grooms on their very special wedding days as well as any tips or insights I pick up along the way.

xoxo

Happy Feet

No, not the movie with the penguins. Although I will admit that I watch this movie quite a bit because Greyson (my 18 month old) loves it and dances away...it's hysterical to watch him.

Anyways, I was doing my blogs stalking and Liene at Blue Orchid Designs was talking about comfortable wedding shoes. It got me thinking...I've seen so many brides find the cutest shoes (all with at least a 3" heel) and their feet are killing them by the time the ceremony starts. So they end up taking their shoes off immediately after entering the reception and now their dress is 3" too long and stepping on it all night. It's a shame actually to see their gorgeous dresses get trampled.

So if you want to avoid this common problem on your wedding day, maybe check out the shoes at London Sole. They are uber stylish ballet flats that just look great. I'm so tempted to buy a pair and test them out. I'm sure Shawn (my hubby) will be thrilled that I've bought yet another pair of shoes!

TAGGED

I discovered today that I've been tagged by Emilie at Emilie Duncan Event Planning! Honestly, I had to ask what this meant exactly but I love that we get to learn something about each other in a totally random way!...bring on the questions!

First, here are the new rules!
1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 5 songs you are embarrassed to admit to others you like and tell why.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Here are my 5 songs that I really, really like….but don’t like to publicize:
1. Volcano - Jimmy Buffet (who needs frozen beverage? I do!)
2. Buy You a Drank - T Pain featuring Yung Joc (I just love this song, Grey dances to it too!)
3. Numb - Portishead (go electronica!)
4. I Cross My Heart - George Strait (I do like SOME country - my husband thinks I'm nuts)
5. Le Monde - Thievery Corporation (I LOVE this song...and it's in french)

I'm tagging...
Samantha at soireebliss!
Juliet at Green Orchid Events
Jennifer at OC's Finest

Happy 1st Anniversary

I wanted to wish Jen and Ben Troike a Happy 1st Anniversary!

They were married April 21, 2007. I can't believe an entire year has gone by that fast. Congratulations Jen and Ben and I wish you many more years of happiness!

Below are a few of my favorite pictures from the big day. Amy from Harcar Photography was the photographer for the day and she was so great to work with. The beautiful flowers were done by Flowers by Doris in Westerville.

Competing the look...

Veils are something that many of my brides contemplate leaving out of their bridal look. I personally like them because they "balance out" the look. A big white dress on the bottom needs something to tie it all together and the veil works beautifully. The challenge is where do buy a great looking veil without breaking the bank? The VeilShop.com is where!

At the VeilShop.com has a huge selection of veil styles that are custom made just for you. You can choose the color of your veil, the length, how many layers, and any embellishments you would like whether it is rhinestones, pearls or crystals. The best part is that they are super affordable! I've actually seen them in person and will tell you they are beautiful. I wanted to wear one for the day just for fun! They even have those hard to find Bird Cage veils that are coming back in style.

They also offer a selection of tiaras and jewelery. I was very impressed with the various styles and looks of the tiaras. They do not have a physical shop so you can only get them online. They are happy to send samples of materials and beading so you can be sure you are getting exactly what you want.

She carries several designers that you won't find in just any bridal salon. The dresses are gorgeous and affordable. She also carries accessories and shoes to complete the look. Your girls will love your for selecting such a fabulous dress for them to wear on your special day.

Wonderful Weekend in Cincy

This weekend I had the pleasure of attending The Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) Midwest conference in Cincinnati. Myself and several other planners from Columbus - Heather from Bridal Smiths and Quenetta from Something Blue hopped in the Range Rover and headed south on Friday afternoon.

I spent my Friday evening with a very good friend of mine - Shannon - who lives in Cincy. We had a great dinner at El Coyote, great conversation and just a great time hanging out for a few hours. I don't get to see her much so I really enjoyed my time with her. She is due with a baby (no she won't find out what it is!) in June so I'm sure you'll hear more about her then!

Saturday morning we got started bright and early with our day full of education and inspiration. I'll be sharing a few of my favorite vendors I met this week with you on the blog so keep checking back for updates. This conference came at a great time, just as wedding season is about to begin. After our full day of conference we (Emilie Duncan from Emilie Duncan Event Planning) couldn't resist a quick stop at IKEA! We went through the store in record time - 45 minutes to be exact and I only spent $25. Both personal records for me! I know we'll be back soon because we saw so many great things that would be great for a few upcoming weddings.

In MY Neighborhood ...

Today was such a beautiful day out and I was so happy that I could take Grey out for a bit and experience the neighborhood. For those of you who don't know, I live in Victorian Village, just north of Downtown and I LOVE my neighborhood. I can't image living anywhere else.

Anyways, I had to run a few errands (all on foot with Grey in his monster jog stroller, yet another perk of Vic Village!) and we stopped by one of my favorite places in the 'hood Spinelli's Deli. I have known Joe Spinelli, one of the owners, for a few years and I've watched him just expand and grow the deli like there's not tomorrow. It's quite inspirational actually! I met Joe while volunteering on the Victorian Village Home & Garden Tour committee. This year will be my seventh year planning the fabulous Preview Event...anyways I digress.

Spinelli's has a menu full of super yummy bagels, sandwiches, soups and coffee. I grabbed a Westminster Turkey sandwich for Grey and I to share and thought..."hmmm I needed to share this neighborhood favorite with all of my blog friends". Joe does catering as well. I've used his services for numerous personal events, so you know it must be good! So if you're in the neighborhood and looking for breakfast or lunch or just a good cup of coffee stop in and tell Joe Kasey sent you!

MOOOOOOO...

No not the like the cow silly! It's this fun site called MOO!
I found this site a while back when I was looking to have a few things printed and fell in love with their creative offerings, style and price (I won't lie!). They do greeting cards, post cards, stickers, and my personal favorite the mini tag!
They've got these great little mini tags that I think would be full little wedding projects like save the dates, favor tags, the possibilities are endless! The great thing about them is that you can upload custom art work and 100 of them are only $19.99.

Happy Shopping!

My Very Own Photo Shoot

So I had the pleasure this week to spend the morning with a few of my favorite wedding professionals in Columbus. I needed a few updated photos of myself so we did a photo shoot at a very fun, modern loft space downtown. Don and Tammy from the Day Companies were generous enough to let me borrow the loft space for the morning, Amy from C Studios was the photographer, Kellie from Pearls and a Black Dress was on sight to make sure my make up was flawless and Amber from Lily & Jacob was nice enough to help beautify the loft with some of her amazing floral design.

Amy is a true professional and artist in her craft. She has such a great eye to catch just the right moment and you don't even know it's happening! This is exactly why her clients have the most amazing wedding day photographs to cherish forever. I will be honest and tell you that I was a little nervous about the whole idea (even though it was my idea, so I had no one to blame but myself). Once we got started, Amy has this way of making you feel really relaxed and feeling just like a model would. It was a great morning and an experience that I will always remember.

Location: 225 N 4th St, Downtown Columbus

Introducing Checkerboard!

It finally arrived ...my new Checkerboard Invitation book!

For those of you who are not familiar with the many services I offer to my clients, in addition to wedding and event planning, I also offer my clients invitation services. I have several contemporary lines available - Checkerboard, Carlson Craft, McPhersons and StylArt.

My most popular books are Pockets by Carlson Craft, Something Different by Carlson Craft, and Paper Duvet by McPhersons. I also have a really great Save the Date book by Carson Craft.

My clients and I work very closely together to create a complete "Paper Suite". This suite includes - save the dates, invitations, programs, escort cards, accessories - ie. custom monogram napkins, and thank you notes. We are able to flip through all of the various books to find something unique that matches each clients individual style. We get to do this in a relaxed, no pressure setting. I even help arrange calligraphy for the addressing invitations and escort cards.

In addition to adding new books on a semi annual basis, I am also hoping to set up an online gallery so clients can view the various book and styles available at their convenience either prior to or after our session together. Be on the look out for this feature later this year!

Welcome Checkerboard to the Bliss Weddings & Events stationary collection!

Bridal Beauty

I wanted to share one of my favorite vendors with you today. I had the pleasure of having Kellie from Pearls and a Black Dress do my make up for a recent photo shoot. Let me tell you she is AWESOME! She is a true artist and professional in her field.

She did an airbrush foundation which I never had done before (and is my new favorite thing). Those of you who know me, know I love all girlie things like hair, make up, spa days, etc, so having someone as talented at Kellie do my make up was such a treat. I looked gorgeous all day and couldn't believe that the make up stayed on and looked good for so many hours. You'll get to see a few pictures in the next day or so....I haven't seen them myself and I can't wait! ...more aboout the photo shoot later...

So, if you are looking for a make up artist to do your wedding day beauty you must give Kellie a call and tell her I sent you!
